March 2020: quote of the month!
“Kindness speaks volumes, no matter your faith. Imagine how different society would be if we prioritized kindness and helping one another.”
An old teacher of mine, Lindsey Fontneau, said this during a devotional one day a couple of years ago. I wrote it down on the notes app on my phone because it stirred my heart. (I highly recommend writing down things that people say in your phone so that you can remember the wisdom that others have given to you...quote books are the best.)
Why does this quote matter?
I'm writing this in the midst of an incredible level of fear in the world. People act out of instinct and not love when they're afraid. There have been reports of racism against Asians because of the Coronavirus. This is completely unwarranted because sickness doesn't discriminate—anyone can get or give this virus.
I think this quote is such a wonderful reminder of how much kindness can have an impact. Think about a time when you were having one of those days where nothing seemed to go your way, and there was that one person or one thing that cheered you up. It was a ray of sunshine in an otherwise dark day. It gave you a sense of hope, no matter how insignificant it may have seemed.
In a time of such chaos, any act of kindness is a ray of sunshine. It is so important to treat one another with love because love transcends religion, race, background, language...everything. Like Lindsey said, imagine how different our world could be if we were just a little bit kinder to everyone we meet.
