"Sometimes I have my ducks in a row..."

May's Quote of the Month from an old teacher of mine!

"Sometimes I have my ducks in a row, but normally they're just squirrels in a rave." - Becky Langer

I was sitting in the front row of my honors chemistry class when my wonderful teacher said this. This might seem strange to anyone who wasn't in my chemistry class, but comments like that were completely normal from anyone in the classroom. Not only do I find wisdom in this quote, but it also makes me laugh.

Why Does This Quote Matter?

I think it's important to acknowledge that most of us don't have everything together. Normally things are conflicting—family life, homework, social life, extracurriculars, hopes, plans, schedules... These are the squirrels that are fighting for your time and attention. Rarely do things just fall into place, they usually just seem like they're falling apart. Perhaps that's exactly what we need; perhaps we had been putting them in the wrong spot, and shaking things up is the only way to get back on the right track. Mrs. Langer agrees:

"I have seen God turn all kinds of tough, challenging, painful situations in my life into blessings.  Those blessings have had ripple effects in my life for years to come.  I know that He will find ways to bless us through our lives, if we remain hopeful and focused on Him."

While there may be unending chaos in our lives, it will be used for our good. Whether or not you feel as though you have your ducks in a row or they're simply squirrels in a rave, you can thrive in the fact that, eventually, things will work out.
